eggs

Easter egg coloring time. Simple. Basic. Dye. I found some ideas on pinterest, but they wanted none of it. They just wanted stickers and dye and a wax crayon. Easy enough. They made a big ol’ mess and their hands were stained for days. They couldn’t have been happier.

egg hunt

We joined several of my mom pals and their kiddos for an Easter egg hunt at the park. There were lots of treats and eggs for the kids. My girls had a blast and I really enjoyed the time catching up with my friends.

My peepcakes creations, which are not nearly as creative or crafty as the pinterest version, but I just like to bake and don’t put too much effort in to the rest of it.

kickstand

Annabelle is off of cranium probation! She has asked us all week “how many more days until I can hit my head again?”.  Sometimes I really don’t think I’m doing this mom-thing justice.

We have advised her it’s always best to avoid head-injuries.

She was so excited to put on her helmet and jump on her bike. A whole week and she hasn’t lost any of her skills. B even got her a new kick stand to reward her for her accomplishment and her patience this week. If you want to find us this summer, Annabelle will be cruising the neighborhood on her bike.

Gwyneth’s ankle is feeling much better and she took a few ill-advised spins on her bike down the street. She gave up the bike and then just started walking and then she gave up walking and then started crying and then gave up crying and came in the house screaming and mad and gave all that up for a bath and bed time. Phew!

She started with a smile though….

spring

We tried to keep Annabelle calm this weekend because of her sinus issues. It hasn’t been easy because she is so eager to get back on her bike. Luckily an Easter package arrived from Poppy and Melissa to keep the girls busy. We decorated our house for Easter and they did lots of crafts. It’s hard to believe it’s spring while we are getting ready to celebrate Easter and it snowed today. Crazy flippin’ Colorado weather!

no school

The girls had the day off school today. What’s that you ask? Weren’t they just on Spring Break??? Why yes, yes they were. They get so many vacation days from school. I’m lucky because I have the flexibility to be home with them, but I do wish they had a longer summer break or a fall break rather than all the random days off. I like stability and a good routine.

Anyway, we took advantage of the day off and the beautiful weather and headed to the zoo to meet some friends. Annabelle’s allergies kicked in and with her ears already hurting there was no chance we could stick around. Until her sinus issues are cleared up it’s indoor, calm activities for us.

We ditched the zoo and went to the Children’s Museum which was pretty quiet. We have a membership there and we don’t make it down nearly enough.

The Children’s Museum is right next to the aquarium so the girls talked me into lunch with the mermaids. All these memberships really come in handy!
We sat right by the tank and this fish stared at Annabelle the entire meal. If she moved it followed her. As Gwyneth said “CWEEPY!”.
After lunch we went back to the Children’s Museum for more firetruck and dancing fun.

We used B’s birthday movie passes to see Rio 2 and then came home and made chocolate covered strawberries. Yum! It was a busy day, probably a bit to much for a sick little girl and definitely too much for Gwyneth. She was asleep before her head even hit her pillow. I guess we’ll just have to relax the rest of the weekend and eat these strawberries.

mad scientists

We have to get creative with Miss Annabelle home from school. She quickly made her way through her homework, her reading, the workbooks I have for her and I didn’t want her to sit around and watch Frozen all week. (We didn’t watch it one single time while she was home sick….what?!?!). I had an old  Mad Scientist kit that we pulled out when Gwyneth got home from school and the girls had some fun doing experiments.

concussed

It started as a tiny little bruise on her cheek….
And oh my, did it progress quickly!

Annabelle came home from school and told us she had been kicked in the cheek on the playground. She was flipping on the parallel bars with a friend and she got a swift, hard shoe to the face. It was an accident and she spent a little while at the nurses office with some ice.

All seemed well after school, but then she started complaining that her ears were hurting. She said it felt like she was on an airplane and she couldn’t get her ears to pop. She was up most of the night in pain so we headed to the doctor the next day.

Turns out the kick got her just right to impact her sinuses and cause draining and ringing in her ears. The doctor decided she also had a minor concussion and should refrain from any physical activity for a week. Oye!
Don’t let this sweet little face fool you. This girl had me in tears. When they started running the tests, she wrapped herself around me and begged me to take her home. She told me she was just tricking about her ears hurting. It was awful. After all the tests were done, she admitted her ears so bad but it wasn’t worth the tests. Horrible visit for mom and daughter.

carmel popcorn day

Today was National Carmel Popcorn Day. Yep, the girls and I love celebrating silly days like this. I surprised them with this super sweet snack in their lunches today. Annabelle loved it, Gwyneth not so much. Better luck next time.

Tonight was the first day back into the official routine of school and dancing school routine after spring break. Oye! A little sugary sweet treat certainly helped.

bikers

She did it! Annabelle is officially riding a two wheeler.

We started pressuring her about it last summer and she had ZERO interest. ZERO! I was a bit worried that she would never be interested, but oh how I have underestimated this girl. How can I forget the stubbornness that is Annabelle?! She can not be rushed, she can not be pressured, she does everything on her own time and only when she wants to do it.

Annabelle’s friend, Tyson is a super biker and this week she decided she wanted to be able to ride bikes with him this summer. Annabelle and B came up with a plan and committed to learning this weekend. I thought it would be a lengthy process but this girl is tenacious. Training wheels came off and after lots of great tips from her Dad, off she went.

So proud of this girl….and for B’s patience. He’s so much better at these things than me and this was a great Dad-moment for him!!
There she goes!
I LOVE this picture! We are all so proud of Annabelle including Miss Gwyneth. Aren’t they sweet together???
We headed down to Tyson’s house for dinner tonight and brought along some “Frozen” cupcakes. Annabelle was so excited to share her biking news with him!

crafts and friends

B was home this afternoon so he joined us at the library for the craft make and take. It happens once a month and we can’t always make it but when we do, we love it. This week they made Baa Baa Black Sheeps and Fish. We returned some books, checked out some new and then headed home to meet some friends.
The girls each had a friend over tonight for a pizza and Frozen party. Gwyneth invited Annie and Annabelle invited Sofia and they were so, so happy. Boy, how our Friday nights have changed, but this is a good, good night!
B can’t be bothered, it’s Let it Go Time!
